The Office of the United States Trade Representative has added several e-commerce sites operated by Chinese companies into the latest Notorious Markets list for counterfeit and pirated goods, including Tencent (0700.HK)'s overseas version of WeChat and Alibaba (9988.HK)'s AliExpress, both of which are listed for the first time. USTR continues to list China as the source of the most seized counterfeit goods, of which 83% are transshipped to Hong Kong. They believe that it will undermine the innovation and creativity of the United States, damage the rights of consumers and labor, and urge China to strengthen law enforcement. China’s defense after Alibaba and Tencent were added for the first time, urges the US to stop politicizing economic and trade issues.
